Hiccups aren't deadly to you, but it's so irritating you might just kill someone else. When my baby first got hiccups, I didn't know what to do. Usually I just shove him on my boobs, nom nom nom. Then I heard about a traditional Philippine remedy for hiccups that's so simple. I can't believe it works. So I had to try it.
Simply moist a piece of cotton in cold water. Quickly and decisively put it on the center of a baby's forehead.
The verdict. It works the first time. I think it's about giving the baby a nice little jolt. That's why if you fail the first time, it won't work the second time. Warm water does not work. I wonder if this Hiccup remedy will work in winter when everything is cold. Or when the baby gets bigger.
Anyway, when the child is older, he can simply gulp water. Or swallow a spoonful of sugar quickly then gulp it down with water.
